Event Details
Are you ready to test your wits in the ancient game of chess? The Indianola Public Library is hosting its first chess tournament! Everybody will play all four rounds, and prizes will be awarded for the top players.
All participants need to know the rules of chess, but no previous tournament experience is required.
Registration is required and begins June 1. Include whether you have participated in a chess tournament before in the "Special Notes" box.
Limited to 22 players! Must be students in grades K-12
Tournament type: 4 round Swiss system (All players will play all 4 rounds)
Time Control: G/10; d5 (each side has 10 minutes to make all moves, with a 5-second delay before each move).
Rounds Times: Round 1 will start at 1:00. All other rounds will start ASAP. The tournament should end around 3:30 or 4. All players must be present for all four rounds.
Prizes: Trophies are awarded to top 3 places; medals will also be awarded.
Registration: On-site registration only if participant limit (22 players) allows.
Snacks will be provided. (Granola bars, fruit snacks, and water)
